Brothers Iannitti and Weber will both serve as Weatherhead Representatives, brother Via will serve as an Engineering Representative, and brothers Hamilton, Wang, and DuBose will all serve as Arts & Sciences Representatives.

Brother of the Month

Congratulations to Neil O'Brian (DA1271), who received the Brother of the Month award for October.

Neil led the effort at Case to get students out to vote. Regardless of someone's party, Neil worked to make sure as every student was registered and given the opportunity to vote.

In all over 1300 students were registered. Additionally, Neil worked to get "utility bills" for student use on election day and arranged for Greenies to transport students for early voting. Over 400 students took advantage of the early voting because of this.

It is an incredible achievement and one that really showcases the values that Sigma Nu promotes.

Come see Mark Cochrane and his band!

Mark Cochrane (DA1232) has recently starting playing with his band at the Euclid Tavern every other Wednesday night. It is always a fun show, so if you have free time, come see them play!

They next play on Wednesday, November 5th.

Nick Hilgeman proposes to Christa Bradley!

Many congratulations to Nick Hilgeman (DA1241) for his recent engagement to Christa Bradley of Mishawaka, Indiana. This past Thursday at 6 PM in a park downtown Nick proposed to Christa and she accepted.

The event has been weeks in the making and most of the active chapter helped make it a reality. Over the last few weeks members of the chapter practiced two songs, "Sigma Nu girl" and "The Girl Who Wears the 5-Armed Star."

With Christa in town, the brothers got dressed in badge attire and secretly left the house. Two stayed behind and brought her downtown where the rest of the brothers were waiting to serenade her. After singing "Sigma Nu Girl" Nick proposed, giving her a ring and his badge when she accepted. The brothers followed up with "The Girl Who Wears the 5-Armed Star."

Again, the brothers want to congratulate Nick and Christa for this achievement in their lives and thank them for letting the chapter play a part in it.

Tyler Allen recognized as Brother of the Month

Congratulations to Tyler Allen (DA1259) for being recognized as Brother of the Month for September. Tyler unceasing desire to help and support brothers is a testament to how strongly he believes in and showcases our values. On more than a few occasions, he has put aside what he was doing for hours on end to help brothers in need.

Tyler is a great example for all our brothers and congratulations again to him for the award.

Case Engineers Council

Geoff Peyton was recently chosen as the Vice President of the Case Engineers Council. In this position he will be working to organize all of the engineering student groups for E-Week 2009.

If you have any ideas or comments on past E-Weeks or a good idea for an event, let him know!

Relay for Life

Congratulations to Alex Hamberger for helping to organize the first ever Relay for Life at Case Western Reserve University which raised over $60,000. There were over 50 teams present at this first year event, including one from the Delta Alpha chapter of Sigma Nu. Relay for Life raises money for The American Cancer Society and is held at numerous sites all over the country!

Student Leadership Awards

On April 15, 2008 Alex Hamberger and Adam Rupe were honored with two prestigious awards at the Dr. Dorothy Pijan Student Leadership Awards. Alex Hamberger was given the "Oustanding Senior" award while Adam Rupe was honored with the highest award of the evening the "President's Award." Congratulations to both brothers Hamberger and Rupe for these impressive honors.

"Chicago"

Two of the knights, Dan Johnson and Alex Hamberger performed in the footlighters production of "Chicago" this weekend, with Josh Lostroh helping out on the crew. The musical was very popular and every performance had a packed audience. Groups of knights came out to every performance to watch Dan and Alex sing, dance and act and support them. The production was greatly enjoyed by everyone.

No Exit

This past weekend Brother John Horton appeared in Jean-Paul Sartre's "No Exit," a well-known French play about hell and was directed by current Sigma Nu candidate Gabe Geschke. The show had a great turnout, resorting to having the directors stand in the back due to lack of seating on the Saturday performance. The show is going to be reviewed in the next edition of the Observer, so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming critical praise for your fellow brother.
